A great touring theatre company, Badapple, came from York to entertain us hatters and a few Uppingham extras too. Their play was a war time story, called The Thankful Village, funny and thought provoking, particularly with regard to the role of women in the war. We are notable in Rutland for having a Thankful Village – one which didn’t lose a single man during the war. It’s little Teigh in the north of the county and it was lovely to have a few representatives from Teigh with us on the night.
The unaccompanied songs were a delight. Only three female actors skilfully switched parts becoming their men counterparts with the flick of a cap or donning of a jacket, and due to clever theatre its was all very convincing and a super evening. We shall definitely be inviting them again!
