Our first birthday was celebrated in style at Uppingham Theatre. Lucky for us, the second Weds of April, our birthday, coincided with the Rutland Musical Theatre’s musical performance of Anything Goes, so of course, we went along. Forty of us in fact, all in red hats..
After a fab show (thanks RMT) we retired to the bar for refreshments. We kicked off (literally) with a rendition of Happy birthday to the Can Can dance. Then we ate sandwiches out of decorated boxes, and cakepops off a huge red hat creation (see pics). Belladonna gave a speech thanking the Queen for all her hard work (glad you all appreciate it, ha ha) and presented her with a (lovingly decorated) box of goodies, mementos, poems and keepsakes, anecdotes and hand made treasures all sent in by hatters to reminisce about our first year as a chapter. Belladonna had us in stitches with her mad antics (SHE should have been on the stage), and the Queen was moved to virtual silence and slight embarrassment by being made such a fuss of by all her lovely and loyal subjects.
Happy 1st birthday Not Stuck in a Rut-land Red Hatters!
